E-Mamta Mother and Child Tracking

K.K. Panchal, Additional Director (VS), Health, Medical Services,
and Medical Education (HS), Government of Gujarat talked about the E-Mamta initiative
that involves name-based tracking of pregnant women for ANCs, Delivery, and
PNCs; children for immunization and nutrition; adolescents for RCH services;
and eligible couples for family planning.
This project also facilitates closer monitoring of regular
check-ups of pregnant women and reduces maternal mortality, complete immunization
of children, nutrition of pregnant women and children, adolescent friendly services,
and family planning services. It covers all citizens of Gujarat that are covered
under Family Health Survey.
The potential benefits of this project are better control on estimates of infant
and maternal mortality and report into one site MCR e.g. DHIS-2, RIMS, School
Health, etc., list of beneficiaries for each services (auto generated), computerized
work plan for workers and monitoring officers, quantifying off-take of JSY/CY
benefits, and monitoring of incentives.
Besides, it also provides improved supply chain management of vaccines and drugs,
improvement in registration of births, better data analysis for preparation
of block/district health action plans with realistic/accurate denominators.
